Mr Chanel Alataua and Miss Angel Fatu are the school Social Workers here at De La Salle College.
As Social Workers they work together with our young men, their families and the school. Our aim is to provide support to students who need assistance in all different levels.
They are a part of the Pastoral Care team whom consist of a school Counsellor, Nurses, the Careers Advisor, Learning Support and Mr Charles: Assistant Principal and head of the Pastoral Care team.
Social Workers in Schools is a concept developed to work alongside young people and their families. Chanel and Angel work alongside our teachers and are ‘bridge makers’ between school and the families. They work with young men in understanding their holistic well-being. This can work, either with the individual, a group or the family if necessary.
We undertook most aspects of program delivery including needs analysis, participant assessment, program planning and program operation. This process will develop a positive attitude within the young men.
The programs on offer at De La Salle College are: Seasons for Growth, Travellers, USO group, Brothers of Service, weekend activities and student mentoring.
The Social Workers would be happy to meet with any families who may have some concerns regarding their son.
